Red Kites

Wembley Stadium Station, Wembley

Painted to celebrate London becoming the world's first National Park City, and the wonderful success story of the reintroduction of the once critically endangered red kite.

Their population is booming and expanding from their original stronghold in the Chiltern Hills. They are now regularly seen overhead in London skies. Hopefully they will again become as common as they once were in this city.

I tried to capture the way they move through the air; they have such control and use their beautiful tail to great effect as they balance and turn. They almost float and waft around and are capable of twisting and turning and swooping at great speed.

For London National Park City and Quintain Ltd.
