All the artworks are from the Oceanic31 exhibition which has been touring the UK for the last two years and is now back at the Royal Geographical Society in London @rgs_ibg from the end of November. Each artist has represented a different species of endangered shark or ray, with great work by @wilbo_rose @aliciahaydenwildlife @belowandbeyondart @rachelbrooksart @abigailburt @sophiegreenfineart @mattsewell and many more... Only 50 years ago the Oceanic White Tip was considered the most numerous large animal on the planet. It is now in danger of extinction, a victim of extreme overfishing. Birds of Barking Riverside, showing some of the species found on the very valuable local habitat of mudflats, saltmarsh and grassland, that is in need of protection from new developments. There's a campaign to protect @footpath47 which runs along the shoreline and might well be impacted by awful new building plans. The shoreline of the Thames is such a valuable habitat that has now almost completely disappeared because of centuries of embankment building and development. It's important to protect the last remaining fragments. The birds were painted for @londonnationalparkcity on the hoardings of a @JerramFalkus social housing construction next to Newlands Park, Barking. The aim is to encourage more engagement with nature and efforts to protect what we have. Got until Sunday 3pm to finish my Osprey then it will be auctioned here to raise money for Birdlife International’s conservation work.
